Today as I was leaving school I overheard one of our students say to his Mom, “Today was Miss Rita Day!” He was so excited to share this information. This new addition to our curriculum, Miss Rita’s weekly enrichment activities, has exceeded our expectations. For those not familiar with this special day, it is a day each class has a scheduled visit with Miss Rita. She reads books, sings songs and engages the classes in crafts projects and dancing. On some days there may be a chance to act out the characters to the books and songs. The children enjoy this time because it offers them the opportunity to experience creative artwork and music as a group. The fun is endless! So the next time you hear about “Miss Rita Day”, be sure to ask your child about what they did and whether they had fun. I know they will give it two thumbs up!
